French energy giant EDF has announced plans to build a 1.2-gigawatt offshore wind farm in French waters, with construction expected to commence in 2026. The project, which will be located off the coast of Normandy, will feature over 80 wind turbines and is expected to generate enough electricity to power over 1 million homes.

The offshore wind farm, which will be developed in partnership with several European energy companies, will cover an area of over 100 square kilometers. According to EDF, the project will create over 1,000 jobs during the construction phase and 50 permanent positions once operational.
The 1.2-gigawatt offshore wind farm will have the capacity to generate enough electricity to power over 1 million homes, making it one of the largest offshore wind farms in Europe.
