Lockheed Martin has announced a significant upgrade to its F-35 fighter jet, designed to counter the growing threat of China's J-20 stealth fighter. The new upgrade, which includes advanced radar and missile systems, is expected to increase the combat range of the F-35 by 25%.
Technological Advancements
The F-35 upgrade is a result of a multi-year research and development effort by Lockheed Martin, in collaboration with the US Department of Defense. The new radar system, developed by Northrop Grumman, uses advanced quantum computing algorithms to enhance the F-35's ability to detect and track enemy aircraft.
The new missile system, developed by Raytheon Technologies, has a success rate of 95% in recent tests.
'The F-35 upgrade is a game-changer for the US military, and will allow us to maintain our dominance in the skies,' said Lockheed Martin CEO, Marillyn Hewson.
