Danish energy giant Orsted has announced plans to develop a 1.5-gigawatt offshore wind farm in US waters, with construction expected to commence in 2027. The project, which will be located off the coast of New York, will feature over 100 wind turbines and is expected to generate enough electricity to power over 1 million homes.

The offshore wind farm, which will be developed in partnership with several US energy companies, will cover an area of over 100 square kilometers. According to Orsted, the project will create over 1,500 jobs during the construction phase and 50 permanent positions once operational.
The 1.5-gigawatt offshore wind farm will have the capacity to generate enough electricity to power over 1 million homes, making it one of the largest offshore wind farms in the US.
