French energy giant TotalEnergies has announced a significant investment in the Australian renewable energy sector, with a $1.5 billion commitment to develop a large-scale solar farm in the state of New South Wales. The project, which is expected to generate over 1 gigawatt of clean energy, will help TotalEnergies meet its global renewable targets.
Project Details
The solar farm, which will be located near the town of Dubbo, will cover an area of over 1,500 hectares and feature more than 2.5 million solar panels. Construction is expected to commence in early 2027, with completion slated for 2029. According to TotalEnergies, the project will create over 500 jobs during the construction phase and 50 permanent positions once operational.
The $1.5 billion investment in the Australian solar farm represents one of the largest renewable energy investments made by TotalEnergies to date.
