Vestas Wind Systems, the Danish wind energy giant, has announced the launch of its latest offshore wind turbine, boasting an unprecedented 15-megawatt capacity. This move is set to solidify Vestas' position as a leader in the global offshore wind market.
Technical Specifications
The new turbine, dubbed the V236-15.0 MW, features a 236-meter rotor diameter and 115.5-meter blades, making it one of the largest and most powerful offshore wind turbines in the world. According to Vestas, the V236-15.0 MW has the potential to produce enough electricity to power over 20,000 homes.
The new turbine's 15-megawatt capacity represents a 25% increase over Vestas' previous largest model, the V174-9.5 MW.
